Website Redesign Cost in2026: What You Should Pay

What a website redesign really costs in 2026, why quotes range from $2,000 to $65,000, and the hidden cost nobody puts on the quote: lost rankings.

In short

A website redesign in 2026 costs from about $2,000 for a visual refresh to $150,000 or more for a full platform rebuild, according to published market data. Freelancers quote $1,500 to $8,000 for a small business site, specialist studios $4,000 to $15,000, and US or UK agencies $30,000 to $50,000 for the same scope. A redesign with me starts at 1,200 €. The most expensive part appears on no quote: the Google rankings you lose when your developer doesn't redirect the old URLs.

You ask three people to quote the same website and get back $2,200, $8,000 and $65,000.

Orbix Studio documents that exact spread. All three quotes can be honest. Each prices a different project, since the buyer asked for a "redesign" without saying what that meant.

The ranges below are useful once you know which of these projects you're buying.

1. Market prices in 2026

A visual refresh. New design on your existing pages and content. Orbix Studio puts a 10-page brochure site at $2,000 to $8,000.

A proper rebuild of a small business site. New structure and rewritten pages on a modern stack. Digital Applied, drawing on Clutch, WebFX and Goodfirms benchmarks, puts this at $3,000 to $8,000 with a freelancer and $8,000 to $15,000 with a boutique agency. Clique Studios, pricing at agency rates, quotes $15,000 to $40,000 for 10 to 20 pages.

A platform rebuild. Integrations, CRM, custom workflows, e-commerce. Orbix Studio puts full B2B rebuilds at $40,000 to $150,000 and up.

The provider's country matters as much as the scope. Digital Applied reports US agencies billing $125 to $300 an hour for senior work, UK and EU agencies $95 to $225, and APAC and Latin American agencies $35 to $95. In Windmark's comparison, the scope a specialist studio delivers for $4,000 to $15,000 costs $30,000 to $50,000 from a US or UK boutique agency.

Most small businesses spend at the lower end. In the Clutch 2026 survey, 61% of them spent under $10,000 on their last website project.

2. The difference between a cheap and an expensive quote

A tenfold gap between quotes comes down to four things.

Who writes the content. Rewriting 20 pages well is often the biggest single line in a redesign. A cheap quote tends to assume you'll supply the text. An expensive one includes a copywriter. Check which you've got.

Whether anyone plans the structure. A refresh keeps your existing pages and repaints them. In a real redesign, someone decides which pages stay and which go. That planning is what you're paying for, and a low quote drops it first.

Integrations. Booking systems, CRMs, payment, member areas. Each one adds development time.

Your existing traffic. Most quotes leave it out, and for an established site it can cost more than the redesign itself.

Windmark warns that a quote far below the market range usually means a rebuild within 12 months, so you end up paying twice.

3. The cost missing from most quotes

Your current site has pages Google already knows. Each one has a URL and a ranking built over time. Change those URLs during a redesign without telling Google where they went, and Google treats each one as deleted.

You can lose years of traffic in a week and spend months winning it back, if it comes back at all.

The fix is simple to describe and slow to do:

  • List every URL your current site has, including old blog posts and pages you've forgotten
  • Map each one to its new equivalent
  • Set a single permanent redirect per URL, straight to the destination, never through a chain of two or three
  • After launch, check that each redirect returns a permanent redirect to a live page
  • Resubmit your sitemap and watch Search Console over the following weeks

This month I moved 30 URLs on my own site this way and checked that none of them chained. It's tedious work, and your traffic after the redesign depends on it.

Ask any provider you're considering who handles the redirects and how they'll check them. A vague reply tells you they haven't planned for it.

4. Freelancer, studio or agency

A freelancer suits most small businesses: one point of contact and a lower price. The risk is capacity and continuity, so ask what happens if they're unavailable after launch.

A specialist studio makes sense when you need design and development under one roof with more hands.

An agency earns its price on large platforms with many integrations and stakeholders. For a 15-page business site, much of what you pay covers overhead.

5. My price

A redesign with me starts at 1,200 €. I'm a developer based in France, working in English, French and German, and I build in React and Next.js rather than on templates.

That's a fraction of what a US or UK agency charges for comparable work. I can charge that because I work alone, with no agency structure to fund, and I do the development myself instead of subcontracting it.

Every redesign includes the redirect mapping and post-launch checks described above. Your existing rankings are part of what you're paying to protect.

If you're not sure your site needs a full redesign, it may not. An SEO and GEO audit shows what's holding it back, and sometimes the answer is a handful of fixes instead of a rebuild. The service itself is described on my web development page, and my full pricing is public: see pricing.
